Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffNovember 7, 2008This small freeware utility measures the latency of an Internet connection, but expects users to understand the results. LateRoute does not require installation, and the executable opens a small DOS window. To run the program, you have to accept the license agreement, which can be executed with an accept parameter. Executing LateRoute tests your computer's latency. A low latency score indicates your Internet packets move quickly from your computer to other computers. LateRoute indicates your computer's best connection speed and average speeds over the best five and 10 connections. The application occasionally warns users a firewall could slow the latency rating, but no indications are given if speeds are unusually high or low. System administrators, gamers, hosting providers, and other power users will appreciate this freeware's ease of use and small size.
